A GOOD DAY FOR OUR AWARD WINNING PINOT NOIR

Today is International Pinot Noir Day, and we have rather good news to share.
Our 2024 Groenlandberg Pinot Noir has been named the SA Terroir Awards National Winner in the Pinot Noir category.
Pinot Noir has been part of Oak Valley’s story for more than four decades. In 1985, Oak Valley planted its first 2.5 hectares of experimental vineyards, including Pinot Noir, and in 1991 the first Pinot Noir with W.O. Elgin certification was produced from grapes grown at Oak Valley.
Today, Pinot Noir has even surpassed Chardonnay as our most-planted varietal on the Estate, emphasising our commitment to the heartbreak grape.
What makes this award even more rewarding is that it represents a silver lining to the storms of 2023, which, as we have shared before, caused significant losses to both our crops and infrastructure. The resulting tiny 2024 harvest, with its small berries and bunches, produced fruit of remarkable flavour and aromatic complexity.
